The story

He keeps driving straight into the warning light.

Red and blue wash the wet pavement as he pulls onto the shoulder, pulse racing, trying to outrun the mess he made and the look she gave him when he said he cannot stay. The sirens close in outside and inside his head, and by the time he parks at the dark house with the wild yard, the quiet feels worse than the wreck.

Lyrics

Verse 1

Red and blue reflecting off the wet pavement shine I pulled over on the shoulder, heart beating double-time I wasn't speeding, I was running from the mess I made From the look she gave me when I said I couldn't stay

Pre-Chorus

Every warning sign was flashing, every alarm was ringing loud But I kept driving toward the fire, couldn't turn around

Chorus

Sirens in the distance, sirens in my head Chasing down the echo of every word you said I can hear them coming closer, I can feel the end Sirens always find you, no matter where you've been

Verse 2

You were the kind of beautiful that burns down everything A match inside a powder keg, a rose with sharpened strings I knew the danger going in, I saw the warning signs But some fires feel like freedom when you're cold inside

Chorus

Sirens in the distance, sirens in my head Chasing down the echo of every word you said I can hear them coming closer, I can feel the end Sirens always find you, no matter where you've been

Verse 3

Now I'm parked outside the house we used to call our own The lights are off, the yard's grown wild, there's no one left to phone The sirens faded out last night, the quiet filled the room And silence after chaos is the loneliest kind of wound

Bridge

Maybe I should've listened when the whole world screamed to stop Maybe love's not worth the wreckage when you're cleaning up the rot But I'd do it all again if you were standing at the door 'Cause sirens sound like symphonies when you're the one I'm dying for

The sound

Dark, cinematic country at 84 BPM. Tremolo electric guitar, atmospheric reverb, pulsing bass, and haunting pedal steel. Sparse verses building to a powerful, layered chorus with strings and driving drums. Minor key tonality with an urgent, emotional crescendo. Think brooding Americana with dramatic tension.
