The story

He outruns the week and finds her at the county line.

Friday breaks loose as he clocks out, cranks the engine, and leaves the city behind with dust in the mirror and the speedometer climbing. She climbs in at the county line, boots on the dashboard, and together they burn through the dark with a half tank of gas, chasing a sunset and a diner past the Georgia line.

Lyrics

Verse 1

Friday hit and I was running From a week that wouldn't quit Clocked out, cranked the engine Left the parking lot and lit Every mile between the city And the county line felt free Speedometer climbing higher Just like something wild in me

Pre-Chorus

Wind's howling, heart's pounding Nothing in the mirror but dust and sky

Chorus

Overdrive, baby, overdrive Pedal to the metal, never felt so alive Chasing down the sunset like it owes me something good Overdrive, overdrive Leaving every worry in the rearview if I could Got my whole life in overdrive

Verse 2

Picked her up at the county line She jumped in without a word Kicked her boots up on the dashboard Played the loudest song we heard We were burning through the darkness Like a comet with no plan Just two hearts with too much hunger And a half a tank of gas

Chorus

Overdrive, baby, overdrive Pedal to the metal, never felt so alive Chasing down the sunset like it owes me something good Overdrive, overdrive Leaving every worry in the rearview if I could Got my whole life in overdrive

Verse 3

We ended up at some diner Somewhere past the Georgia line Greasy eggs and cheap coffee And it felt like the divine Sometimes you gotta floor it Just to find out where you're going Sometimes the destination Is just the feeling of not slowing

Bridge

I don't need a map, don't need a sign Don't need permission, don't need time Just need the road and a reason to drive Just need this feeling of being alive

The sound

High-energy country anthem at 140 BPM. Roaring electric guitar riff intro, heavy kick drum pattern, driving bass line. Aggressive acoustic guitar strumming underneath. Big arena-style production with gang vocals. Fiddle solo after the second chorus. Think adrenaline-fueled country-rock with modern production polish.
