I Hope You're Happy Now

Morgan Town · 4:03 · 5/28/2026 · 12 plays

The story

Love lets go while the hurt stays lit.

He scrolls through pictures of her in the same booth, under the same fairy lights, but with another man where he used to sit. He hears her mama say she’s moving in down the street, says that’s great, then falls apart in the silence, hoping she’s happy while standing in the wreckage of what used to be home.

Lyrics

Verse 1

I saw the pictures on your story last night You and him at the place we used to like Same booth, same order, same fairy lights You replaced the face but kept the life I zoomed in like I shouldn't have Lookin' for some proof that you were sad

Pre-Chorus

But your smile looked real and that hit different Happy looks good on you, I gotta admit it

Chorus

I hope you're happy now, I mean it when I say Even though it kills me every single day I hope he holds you better than I ever could I hope you're happy now, I hope it's really good 'Cause you deserved the best and I wasn't it So I hope you're happy now, even if I'm not one bit

Verse 2

Your mama called to check on me last week Said you're movin' in together down the street I said that's great, I'm glad she found her way Then I hung up and fell apart for days I'm not angry, I'm just emptied out Like a house that someone cleaned and then walked out

Chorus

I hope you're happy now, I mean it when I say Even though it kills me every single day I hope he holds you better than I ever could I hope you're happy now, I hope it's really good 'Cause you deserved the best and I wasn't it So I hope you're happy now, even if I'm not one bit

Verse 3

And maybe down the road I'll feel it too The kind of happy that you found brand new But today I'll sit here with my ache And wish you well for both our sakes

Bridge

I'm not the villain and you're not the saint We're just two people with too much paint On a canvas that was never meant to dry So I hope you're happy now And maybe someday so will I Someday so will I

The sound

Bittersweet country ballad, 78 BPM, gentle acoustic guitar, soft piano melody, light strings adding emotional weight, minimal drums with cross-stick pattern, bass guitar following the chord changes smoothly, pedal steel for country authenticity, production that captures the ache of selfless heartbreak, modern and clean
