The story
He keeps moving before the dark can settle.
He works under a truck with grease on his hands, a faded tee clinging to him while the day falls away around the barn and the fence line. The smell sticks to his skin as he wipes his brow, checks the chain, and looks once toward the porch light waiting back home. He can fix anything that breaks except the thing that pulls him back to the road.
