The story

He keeps choosing the fall he swore off.

He locks his heart behind lessons and walls, then one look with autumn-rain eyes cracks everything open. Late texts, saved songs, and a restaurant picked in his head pull him forward, even as he knows how hard it hurts. By the end, he stops pretending he wants safe and lets himself fall again.

Lyrics

Verse 1

I swore I'd never fall like that, face-first into the flame Swore I'd keep my heart locked up and never speak your name But then you walked into the room with those eyes like autumn rain And here I am, standing on the edge of that way again

Pre-Chorus

I built a fortress out of lessons learned the hard way But you walked right through the walls like they were made of yesterday

Chorus

I'm falling that way again, heart-wide-open, terrified The kind of reckless, breathless, can't-stop-this-if-I-tried I told myself I'd be smarter, told myself I'd play it safe But here I am, falling that way again

Verse 2

You text me late and I respond in seconds, not in days I'm saving songs that sound like you, I'm learning all your ways I'm picking out the restaurant where I want to take you first And making plans inside my head like I forgot how bad it hurts

Chorus

I'm falling that way again, heart-wide-open, terrified The kind of reckless, breathless, can't-stop-this-if-I-tried I told myself I'd be smarter, told myself I'd play it safe But here I am, falling that way again

Verse 3

Maybe this time it'll be different, maybe this time it'll stick Maybe you're the reason that I had to go through all of it Every scar was just a lesson, every tear was just a sign That the best things come to those who fall one more damn time

Bridge

So let me fall, let me crash, let me burn it to the ground If loving you's a losing game, I'd rather lose than not be found I'd rather feel the lightning than sit safe out of the rain Here I go, wide open, falling that way again

The sound

Propulsive, emotional country-pop at 102 BPM. Rhythmic acoustic guitar, shimmering electric guitar arpeggios, punchy modern drums with a driving hi-hat, and a warm, pulsing bass. Pre-chorus builds tension, chorus explodes with energy. Think falling in love set to a driving, unstoppable beat.
