The story
He keeps finding reasons to slow down at the pumps.
Under buzzing lights, he circles the same gas station, pretending he needs fuel while stealing glances at the girl behind the counter. Her smile lands harder than the click of the pump, and every visit turns into another chance to say nothing and hope she notices the truck, the hat, the nerves he keeps folded tight. By the time he drives off, the tank is full and he still isn’t.
