Devil's At It Again

Morgan Town · 3:18 · 4/30/2026 · 249 plays

The story

Pressure, temptation, and one stubborn prayer.

Monday breaks cold: the ex’s new pictures, the truck dead on the way to the farm, the boss saying he’s running thin. The devil knows his weak spots and shows up with lies, a pretty face at the bar stool, but his grandma’s voice still holds: plant his feet, pray, lace up his boots, and meet the day before the dark gets in.

Lyrics

Verse 1

Woke up Monday mornin' with a chip on my shoulder The kind of weight that makes the whole world feel colder My ex is postin' pictures with some new guy's arm And my truck broke down on the way to the farm Boss man called and said I'm runnin' thin Feel like the devil's at it again

Pre-Chorus

He knows my weak spots, knows my name Shows up every time I'm startin' to feel okay

Chorus

The devil's at it again Whisperin' lies like an old-time friend Tellin' me I ain't enough, I'll never win The devil's at it again But I've been here before, I know his game He can't have my joy, he can't have my name So get behind me with your fire and sin The devil's at it again, but he ain't gonna win

Verse 2

Temptation's got a pretty face, I know that well She smells like trouble wrapped in Southern belle She's at the end of every bar stool, every screen Every shortcut to the life I shouldn't lead But my grandma said when darkness pulls you in You plant your feet and pray until you win

Verse 3

So I'll lace up my boots and face the day Fight the fight and find my way 'Cause the devil only shows when you're close to the light That means I must be doin' somethin' right

Bridge

Every battle makes me stronger Every fall just makes me longer For the grace that pulls me through Devil, I ain't scared of you No, I ain't scared of you

The sound

Dark Southern gothic country-rock, 108 BPM, heavy distorted guitar riff, stomping floor tom beat, gritty bass line, church organ undertones, hand claps, gospel choir harmonies in the bridge, swampy atmosphere with arena-ready dynamics, spiritual warfare anthem energy
